About Me
I graduated from Central Washington University (CWU) with a Bachelors of Science in Sociology. Upon graduation from CWU I started my graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at Mars Hill Graduate School (Western Seminary of Seattle). My professional work began as a case manager and counselor for homeless and parenting young women in transitional housing with Friends of Youth. This work consisted of career planning, job placement, one-on-one counseling and referral networking services. I went on to help facilitate and provide counseling and referral services for a program called Self-Managed Housing Program (SMHP), a transitional housing program for homeless adults in the Seattle area. In addition, I directed an innovative non-profit called Quest Community Development which consisted of programs that involved outreach and support to the homeless, low-income families, technology programs, live music & the arts and the Q Cafe which hosted these events to elevate local musicians and organizations focused on missions of Justice. Finally, I have been on pastoral staff at Quest Church as the Social Justice and Compassion Pastor for three years. This role has encompassed a variety of different aspects of my skill set from teaching, counseling, developing ministries, organizing and working independently and with a staff team. I received a certificate in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and have worked in several settings using advocacy and crisis intervention as a means of service to the larger community.
I have a deep love and passion for the arts and culture. In the mediums presented to us through art, music and film there is a freedom given to elevate a platform in order to express our deepest fears, dreams and desires in a therapeutic and healing means. I believe that the arts and metaphor can be powerful tools used to look at the deeper issues of our emotions, our psyche, our spirituality and our intellect while in the counseling setting. My theoretical and artistic background allows me to employ a creative approach to joining each client on their journey.
